national institute of puppetry
The Friends of the Marionnettes is committed to establishing a National Institute of Puppetry. Some of the things that will be included in the Institute are internships in all areas of puppet theatre, and workshops for adults as well as children providing an oppurtunite to write short plays, create the puppets, and perform the finished piece.
A permanent display of the Puppet Guild of Greater St. Louis's collection of more than six hundred puppets from all over the world will also be on display.
There will also be a theatre for a resident puppet company as well as guest performers from the United States and the rest of the world.
Working towards this goal, the Friends Of The Marionnettes has been sponsoring workshops in schools, internship programs, and touring puppet companies from Russia, Germany, France, Japan, New York, Chicago, and California.
